Tools Needed:

1. Ladder or step stool to reach the wall you are working on.

2. Putty knife or razor blade in order to remove the corner of the wallpaper

3.A scoring tool depending on the type of wallpaper.

4. Spray bottle

5. You may also find it helpful to have a sponge on hand to clean up any excess glue or water.

6. Stripping solution specifically designed for removing wallpaper.

Now that you have gathered all of the necessary materials, it is time to begin the wallpaper removal process.

STEPS:

Start by inspecting the walls for any signs of damage or weak spots. Next, carefully score the wallpaper with a scoring tool, unless it’s pre-scored. Then, generously spray the wall with water and stripping solution. Allow the mixture to sit for approximately 10-15 minutes in order for it to begin loosening the wallpaper.

Once the solution has had time to saturate, use your putty knife or razor blade to carefully remove a corner of the wallpaper. Be sure not to gouge or scrape too deep into the wall as this can cause further damage. After removing a corner, slowly and carefully peel away the wallpaper. If it resists, use your putty knife or razor blade to gently scrape off any excess glue or residue until all the wallpaper is gone.

Finally, use a damp sponge to wipe down the walls to remove any leftover residue. Leave the wall to dry thoroughly before continuing with the next step of your project. Never hesitate to reach out to us at BRS Painting for help on repairs or color choices.
