A Small Project with a Big Impact

One of the most common questions we hear is, “Is this project big enough?”

Our answer is always the same: Yes.

At BRS Painting, we believe small projects matter. In fact, they’re the foundation of our company. Now in our seventeenth year, we didn’t become one of the most reliable residential repainting companies in the area by overlooking smaller jobs, we were built by them.

While we now have the capacity to take on larger projects, we’ve never forgotten the importance of the “little” ones. A recent basement stairwell in the Keeneland Trails subdivision in Wentzville, MO, is a perfect example.

The Project

This basement stairwell had seen years of heavy traffic from kids and guests. The walls were covered in builder-grade flat paint that had become chalky over time, marked up from top to bottom, and riddled with dozens of small dings and dents.

We began by completing all necessary drywall repairs to restore the surface. Once prepped and smooth:

  • The ceiling was painted with ProMar Ceiling Paint (flat, standard white).
  • The walls were finished in Sherwin-Williams Repose Gray (SW7015) using Duration Home Satin for a durable, washable finish.
  • The baseboards were coated with ProClassic Waterborne Acrylic-Alkyd in a semi-gloss, standard white finish for a clean, crisp contrast.

The entire project was completed in just one day.

The Result

What started as a simple stairwell refresh made a dramatic difference in the look and feel of the space. More importantly, the experience led the homeowner to invite us back to paint the entire basement, a project with its own unique challenges and rewards.

Small projects often lead to bigger opportunities, and we’re grateful for every one of them.
